A competitive process that the MTA uses to fund transportation projects countywide. Local cities and other public agencies that provide transportation services are eligible to apply to the MTA for funding for regionally significant transportation projects that the local entity is willing to implement. The MTA prioritizes the projects and funds them based on a countywide competition. The following modal categories are typically included in the Call for Projects: Freeway (HOV Transportation Operations Systems, and gap closures); arterial highway improvements; signal synchronization and bus speed improvement; Transportation Demand Management; Bikeways and Pedestrian Enhancements; and Transit Capital. The MTA typically conducts the Call for Projects process every two years.
