1958:  The El Monte Division is officially designated as Division 9 by the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority.

LAMTA acquired the property in its purchase of Metropolitan Coach Lines, the successor agency to Pacific Electric Railway, earlier in the year.

1984:  The Los Angeles County Transportation Commission commits $406.6 million in local matching funds for the federally funded Metro Rail subway project.

The financial backing brings the project closer to its eventual September 29, 1986 groundbreaking.
