August 19: This Date in Los Angeles Transportation History

1994:  Subway tunneling for the Metro Red Line is suspended due to greater than anticipated ground settlement under Hollywood Boulevard.  Cracks had begun appearing in walls and floors of buildings along the street, while damage is noticed along the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
