1937:  Highway improvement construction is completed through Mojave eliminating a critical bottleneck on the Los Angeles-Reno road.

Located 105 miles north of Los Angeles, Mojave was chosen for the site of a construction camp to accommodate workers engaged in the completion of the Southern Pacific Railroad between Los Angeles and Bakersfield.

More information on the project can be found in the  February, 1938 issue of California Highways and Public Works.
