December 5: This Date in Los Angeles Transportation History

1982:  The Southern California Rapid Transit District‘s new Division 8 facility opens in Chatsworth.

West Valley bus operations were moved there from the former Division 8 location at 14557 Sherman Way in Van Nuys.

The original Van Nuys Division, officially named Division 8 on August 15, 1958, had been a Pacific Electric Railway Company property, passed down through Metropolitan Coach Lines and the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority to the Southern California Rapid Transit District.
