February 28: This Date in Los Angeles Transportation History

2002:  The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board of Directors votes to expand the Metro Rapid Bus Program from its initial two demonstration lines on Wilshire and Ventura Boulevards, adding six more lines to be implemented over the next 18 months.

The plan calls for a total of 23 corridors to be served by Rapid Bus.

The Board also votes to certify the final environmental impact report on the planned six-mile light-rail extension of the Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension.
