February 8: This Date in Los Angeles Transportation History

1957:  A contract is awarded for construction of a one-mile section of the Glendale Freeway between the Los Angeles River and Avenue 36 near Eagle Rock Boulevard.

2002:  The McBean Transfer Station opens in Santa Clarita.

The transfer station serves 300 buses and 5,000 passengers each day.
