January 29: This Date in Los Angeles Transportation History

2001:  Metro shares the announcement from the Federal Transit Administration that the agency is a “first tier member” for the FTA’s Bus Rapid Transit Consortium.

The designation means that Metro is one of only eleven agencies nationwide whose projects will be the first to receive federal funding for travel, research and project development.

2004:  Metro officially dedicates the Pico Metro Blue Line Station in honor of legendary Los Angeles Lakers broadcaster Chick Hearn.
