July 5: This Date in Los Angeles Transportation History

2007:  Federal Transit Administration Head James Simpson visits Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority to see Metro’s state-of-the-art transit technology.

The tour gives LACMTA CEO Roger Snoble an opportunity to demonstrate to the FTA Administrator the diversity and complexity of Metro’s transit system, including its bus operations center, new 2550 light-rail cars and their GPS functionality, the RIITS traffic management system, Metro Rapid Wilshire bus line, Metro Orange Line, Expo Line construction project, and more.
