1916:  The Newhall Pass (then known as the Fremont Pass) is officially marked by the San Fernando Ebell Club with a monument.

1974:  Southern California Rapid Transit District extends its $0.25 flat fare to Riverside County service.

Just halfway into the 12-week program, SCRTD takes in more than 3 million additional riders and eliminates 31,500 fewer cars per day on local streets and freeways — saving more than 840,000 gallons of gasoline.

The City and County of Riverside contribute a $19,331 subsidy to extend the flat fare program until June 22.
