1925:  Bus service is extended on Wilshire Boulevard from La Brea Avenue to Fairfax Avenue.

1974:  Southern California Rapid Transit District‘s Board of Directors endorses Proposition 5 and Proposition A, which will appear on the November ballot.

Proposition 5 is a “Highways And Mass Transit Guideways” state ballot measure, which passes on June 4.  It seeks to repeal what was then Article XXVI of the California Constitution, replacing it with an entirely new Article XXVI.

The measures would allow a portion of the motor vehicle fuel tax to be used for public transit funding for the first time.  They both fail to attain a majority vote.
