November 13: This Date in Los Angeles Transportation History

1980:  The Los Angeles County Transportation Commission votes to file a sales tax increase with the California State Board of Equalization.  Fifty-four percent of Los Angeles County voters approved the transit tax measure on November 4, raising the six-cent sales tax to six and a half cents on the dollar.  It is up to the State Attorney General to determine whether or not a simple majority is enough to put Proposition A into effect.
