  • What was the first public transit company in Los Angeles?

    Los Angeles’ first rail transit line was a horse-powered route built by Judge Robert M. Widney. The Spring & Sixth Street Railroad Company initially opened on February 6, 1874 and was later deeded to Sixth & San Fernando Street Railroad Company on April 14, 1883. The last horse-drawn car service was abandoned in 1897.
