April 2: This Date in Los Angeles Transportation History

1974:  After implementing an experimental fare of $0.25 on April 1, Southern California Rapid Transit District reports that bus ridership is up 12%.

 

 

A one-day County record is set the following day when buses carry a record 657,000 riders.
