December 22: This Date in Los Angeles Transportation History

1974:  The Southern California Rapid Transit District formally opens its new Division 15 building in Sun Valley.

The new division will ultimately serve as home for 220 buses serving San Fernando Valley lines.  SCRTD President Thomas G. Neusom declares that:

“The opening of this operating division stands as perhaps the most graphic evidence of the expanded bus service being planned for Valley residents.”

The comments refer to the initiation the following year of a new San Fernando Valley Grid System.
