December 29: This Date in Los Angeles Transportation History

1952: The last day of streetcar service between downtown Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley through the Cahuenga Pass.

The Pacific Electric Van Nuys Line is replaced by a new bus route, named the Los Angeles-North Hollywood-Van Nuys via Hollywood Motor Coach Line — the first to use completed portions of the Hollywood Freeway.
