1976:  Southern California Rapid Transit District introduces the East Los Angeles Grid service to provide new and improved transit service to residents.

Three new lines are introduced and 14 others are rerouted to form a comprehensive transit improvement system consistent with those successfully implemented in other parts of the city.

The area affected is bound by the Los Angeles River on the west, Washington Boulevard on the south, Garfield Avenue on the east and Valley Boulevard on the north.
