June 12: This Date in Los Angeles Transportation History

1999:  Metro’s Hollywood/Vine Station opens, further extending the Metro Red Line from downtown 4.7 miles to Hollywood, with five new stations:  Vermont/Beverly, Vermont/Santa Monica, Vermont/Sunset, Hollywood/Western, and Hollywood/Vine.

Hollywood/Vine remains the northwestern terminus of the line until the North Hollywood station opens in 2000.
