November 6: This Date in Los Angeles Transportation History

1987:  Grand opening ceremony for the South Bay Galleria Transit Terminal.  Four Southern California Rapid Transit District bus lines (40, 210, 211, 442) are slated to be rerouted to the new terminal two days later.  Other transit properties serving the terminal include Torrance Transit, Gardena Munical Bus Lines, WAVE (a local circulation service), and the Lawndale Trolley.

2001:  LACMTA enters into an agreement with Montebello Bus Lines to accept Metro transit passes, effective December 30, 2001.

The agreement with Montebello will provide a strong foundation to build upon for implementation of the Universal Fare System (UFS) under development and procurement.

2018:  The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority provides free rides on Election Day, on all Metro buses and trains.

The Metro Board of Directors vote on November 1, 2018 to approve the measure.  More information can be found in the November 1, 2018 Metro Press Release.
