September 19: This Date in Los Angeles Transportation History

 1927:  The 7th Street Viaduct opens.

The 1,580-foot span eliminates at-grade rail crossings between Downtown and East Los Angeles, decreasing traffic and travel time for the Los Angeles Railway‘s “R” Line.
