2015:  The Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority announces the substantial completion of construction of the 11.5-mile extension from eastern Pasadena to the Azusa/Glendora border.

Officials from the Foothill Extension Construction Authority and the contractor sign certificates of substantial completion.

With construction basically completed, the independent Construction Authority begins the process of handing over the project to Metro for pre-revenue testing and employee training.

The 28-mile Foothill Extension follows a freight railroad right-of-way, and includes stations in Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, and Azusa, It features a rail car maintenance facility in Monrovia, two dozen bridges, 14 at-grade crossings, as well as station parking lots and garages.
