1911: The three-member California Highway Commission is created to take full charge of the construction and maintenance of a “continuous and connected state highway system.
“The highway system is proposed to connect all County Seats in California.”
This action is taken pursuant to the State Highways Act of March 22, 1909 (taking effect December 31, 1910).
